Common Emergency & Trauma Conditions Our Sarasota Vet Treats

Our veterinary emergency and trauma pet services allow us to treat several conditions and ailments your pet may be experiencing right here in our Sarasota offices. We frequently see cases in which a pet has accidentally eaten something they should not have that may be toxic to their bodies that cause life threatening situations.

Other common reasons dogs and cats are brought to our veterinary clinic involve traumatic injuries due to automobile accidents, animal bites, burns, fractures and lacerations. However, we also treat the following urgent and critical situations:

  • Vomiting
  • Unwillingness or inability to eat
  • Complications defecating or urinating or the presence of blood in waste
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of consciousness, shock, or seizures
  • Pregnancy or labor complications
  • Heatstroke
  • Choking or respiratory problems
  • Postoperative issues
  • Pain management
  • Poisoning or allergic reactions

These are only some of the conditions our Clearwater veterinarian is prepared to handle, and we invite you to call us or come by during office hours if you think your dog or cat is in need of urgent or emergency care.

What You Can Expect During an Emergency Pet Visit

When you first bring your cat or dog into Clearwater Animal Clinic, we will immediately triage your animal. This allows us to prioritize cases in accordance with their level of emergency needs to provide the most efficient care. Our clinic offers an array of diagnostics equipment including digital X-rays, ultrasound, and an in-house diagnostics lab for fast results.

We provide ECG monitoring, continuous rate infusion for medications and IV fluids, monitor blood pressure, pulse oximetry and oxygen therapy as needed, and all animals are closely monitored by our vets and technicians. Pets in critical condition may require emergency surgery or advanced pain management, and our vet will always keep you informed of your pet’s situation.
